What brought you to CrossFit Blackbuck?
Google reviews!! I had done CrossFit in the past but left to try the globo-gym thing - it wasn’t my vibe, so I searched “gyms near me” and blackbuck popped up with great reviews. I didn’t even have to try anywhere else - I fell in love with blackbuck and it’s amazing people from day 1!
How long have you been at CrossFit Blackbuck?
Since september of 2020.
What changes have you seen in your overall health and fitness since you began training at Blackbuck?
Accountability and consistency. Before, I only went to the gym when I was super motivated (which, let’s be honest, isn’t often for most of us.) now, I’ve gotten to know my regular class (6:30 am) and I miss them whenever I don’t go! Plus, they push my to be the best version of myself and go just a little bit harder in the workouts.
What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Hmm, great question! There’s so many. What’s awesome about CrossFit blackbuck is how willing the coaches are to make the movements and workouts work for you. I can’t do power cleans do to an old shoulder injury from high school track, so they had me work on my deadlifts during the days cleans were in the workouts. I used to be very bad at deadlifts and not really like them, but with the coaches help I love them now! I also think hand stand push ups and burpee box jump overs are super fun.
What's the hardest workout you've done at CrossFit Blackbuck?
Oh gosh, I am 5 feet tall and terrible at cardio, so there are quite a few I can think of - the first one that comes to mind though was a workout made entirely up of wall balls and rowing - my two WORST movements! I finished last by 4 minutes but everyone else was still cheering me on and helping me with my form :)

What's some of your favorite things to do in Memphis?
I love pre-Covid memphis in may!! Hopefully it comes back soon. Also, beale street is super fun and shelby farms is a great place to get outside.
What advice do you have for beginners?
Don’t give up! It’s super easy to become intimidated, but I promise every day gets you a little closer to understanding what CrossFit is all about and reaching your goals. Everyone at black buck is rooting for you - we all want the best for each other!
